Bush Critics Suffer From Faulty Beliefs

Dear Readers,

I think President Bush is a great president and I believe those who criticize him believe they know enough to criticize his decisions and actions, when in fact they do not, for the most part.

They believe they have enough experience in foreign affairs and in making hard decisions.

They believe they have the maturity.

They believe they have all the pertinent information that must be known before a decision can be made.

They believe they have a good understanding of the enemy we face and the history of that enemy's struggle to achieve global domination.

They believe there is some other way to stop the enemy besides the use of force in addition to all the other tools of statecraft.

They believe they know how the war was being fought under Rumsfeld.

They believe they know how the war has been fought since Rumsfeld resigned.

They believe they know what the results will be of the President's "Surge Plan."

They believe they understand the ramifications of staying in Iraq until the Iraqis can stand on their own.

They believe they understand the ramifications of leaving as soon as possible.

They believe they know how a withdrawal will affect the many different neighbors in the region of Iraq.

They think that ancient animosities between Sunnis and Shia preclude their getting along, even though ancient animosities didn't stop Germans, Brits and the French from becoming neighborly and even though the Sunnis and Shia fought side-by-side in Afghanistan against the Soviets.

They believe they know what the effect will be once the American staying power, attention span, will power, commitment to our allies who trust us as well as a commitment to keep our promises will be shown to be unreliable or worthless.

They believe they know how many people are working to make good on the vow, "Death to America."

They believe they know the capabilities of these people.

They believe they know what it takes to defend a nation.

They believe they understand the strengths and weaknesses of this nation in as far as being able to easily withstand attacks of different kinds.

They believe they know the President's motives.

They believe there was just one reason or two reasons for the invasion of Iraq.

They believe allowing Israel to be at risk of annihilation by WMD attack is  acceptable and they believe Israel can and should take care of itself without our help.

They believe we can live without much change in our way of life if we are denied Middle East oil.

They believe it's ok if America is attacked just so long as we aren't defeated.

They believe there is no price to be paid for their strident opposition to the President and his policies.

They believe that Islamists would be peaceably minding their own business were it not for our intrusion in Iraq.

They believe that radical Islam is no different from the KKK.

They believe the President wants to take away our civil liberties.

They believe that the President of the United States is mandated by law to act as a slavish servant to our every whim.

They believe we should be privvy to every bit of intelligence data and all information made known to the President.

They believe the nation is like High School and that low presidential popularity ratings mean the same as they do at school when Adam and Tiffany might be really, really sad when they find out NO BODY likes them except the nerds.

They believe they can, should or MUST pass judgment on anything and everything whether they understand it or not as they are invited to do on Judge Judy or American Idol.

They believe the war began on March 20, 2003, the day the invasion began, or on September 11, 2001, the day of the aircraft hijackings.

They believe if we simply stop fighting the USA will be safe.

Every one of those beliefs is incorrect.

In the days and weeks to come you will find out why they are incorrect.

I invite your questions and comments.

Because the more you know the more you will love Bush.
